Daisuke Hiraoka is a contemporary artist hailing from Japan’s futuristic Senri New Town. Surrounded by creative inspirations from a young age, Hiraoka attended art school before heading to the USA to further his artistic studies.
Inspired by his cross-cultural experiences, nostalgia of the 70s and 80s, and his love of vintage toys, Hiraoka uses imagery of tin robots to explore the complexities of the human heart.
Hiraoka shuns the typical cold-hearted portrayals of robots seen in popular culture, infusing each of his characters with a sense of expression and romance. Every bright and colourful artwork is designed to capture the contradictory emotions and experiences that come with being human.
